With generous support from Canada Summer Jobs, BTS will be looking to expand its team over the summer. BTS is currently accepting applications for 6 summer positions from youth. BTS Research & Development Assistant (2 positions)
30 hours/week
From 22 June - 17 August 2020

Overview: 

BTS is a non-profit organization focusing on positive youth development. We deliver wrestling and mentoring programs to help build resilient youth and empower them to realize their full potential, on and off the mat. 

Working remotely, the two Research & Development (R&D) Assistants will focus on developing: monitoring and evaluation tools for BTS upcoming programs, the BTS mentorship program and the creation of a mental health component/program. These positions involve research & analysis, communication, coordination, evaluation and program development, producing content for social media and supporting fundraising efforts. They will also be responsible for general administrative tasks related to your responsibilities. This position will develop communication, client, digital, social media, research and analytical, critical thinking and leadership skills.

Responsibilities for Evaluation & Mental Health R&D assistant: 

  • Support the development of evaluation and monitoring plan and tools for Wrestle 4 Fun and After School Program.

  • Research and write needs analysis for each BTS program (Wrestle 4 Fun, After School, Mentorship, Mental Health).

  • Collect and collate quantitative data and impact of BTST programs.

  • Collect and share resources consisting of similar evaluation studies of youth development programs, highlighting relevant information for BTS. 

  • Research mental health best-practices & evidence-based results for children and youth programming (Building resilience).

  • Support the development of Mentorship resources.

  • Support fundraising activities.

  • Produce 4 blog posts + 10 Instagram posts.

Responsibilities for Mentorship R&D assistant: 

  • Research other successful evidence based-models of mentorship programs.

  • Research and write needs analysis for each BTS program (Wrestle 4 Fun, After School, Mentorship, Mental Health).

  • Support mentorship program planning and development (including budgeting).

  • Develop tools, resources and a workbook related to exercises that build resilience in youth (update current materials).

  • Research and develop a database of grants available for mentorship programs.

  • Prepare new content and update the mentorship web page.

  • Support fundraising activities.

  • Produce 4 blog posts + 10 Instagram posts.

Mentoring Component:

  • You will work with a mentor (Evaluation consultant and Executive Director), who will provide one-on-one meetings, setting personal goals and creating a learning plan. The mentor will communicate bi-weekly and provide guidance to improve research skills. Weekly reviews by the mentor will address your learning plan progress and any concerns, questions or challenges. You will have a final-exit meeting with the mentor to review your experience and participate in a BTS survey.


BTS Social Media Community Manager
(2 positions)
30 hours/week
From 29 June - 17 August 2020

Overview: 

BTS is a non-profit organization focusing on positive youth development. We deliver wrestling and mentoring programs to help build resilient youth and empower them to realize their full potential, on and off the mat. 

Working remotely, the two Social Media Community Managers will be responsible for overseeing the social media strategy. They will produce, manage, edit and publish content across BTS social platforms. They will develop a campaign to promote two upcoming BTS programs and increase brand awareness. They will be responsible for managing contributing writers, developing a schedule and creating 4 months worth of posts.  They will also be responsible for general administrative tasks related to your responsibilities. This position will develop communication, client, digital, social media and leadership skills.

Responsibilities: 

  • Supporting the development, implementation and management of the social media strategy

  • Produce, coordinate and manage social media content (includes content creation, managing contributing writers, proofreading, copy editing, scheduling, research and writing). 

  • Develop templates for Instagram posts (via Canva)

  • Produce content and manage contributing writers and ensure:

    • Daily Instagram posts 

    • Bi-weekly blog posts

  • Measure and analyse success / social media growth

  • Develop a media campaign for Wrestle 4 Fun and After School Program

  • Monitor and answer comments and messages across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)

  • Communicate with like-minded organizations and influencers via social media to create a strong network

  • Provide feedback to contributing writers

  • Produce 8-10 blog posts + 30 Instagram posts

Mentoring Component:

  • You will work with a mentor (Development & Communications Officer and Executive Director), who will provide one-on-one meetings, setting personal goals and creating a learning plan. The mentor will use the latest media and communication software to communicate on a bi-weekly basis and provide guidance to improve communication skills. Weekly reviews by the mentor will address learning plan issues and any concerns or challenges youth have. Youth will have a final-exit meeting with the mentor and participate in a survey.


BTS Finance Officers (2 positions)
30 hours/week
From 29 June - 17 August 2020

Overview: 

BTS is a non-profit organization focusing on positive youth development. We deliver wrestling and mentoring programs to help build resilient youth and empower them to realize their full potential, on and off the mat. 

Working remotely, the two Finance Officers will focus on raising funds for BTS from community fundraising, grants, sponsorship and other sources of income. They will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities, writing applications, updating and maintaining the funders database, donor recognition campaigns and identifying and coordinating fundraising and awareness activities. They will also be responsible for general administrative tasks related to your responsibilities. This position will develop communication, fundraising, client, digital, social media and leadership skills.

Responsibilities: 

  • Identify new grant and fundraising opportunities and manage the funders database (includes updating current information, deadlines, contacts)

  • Research and identify fundraising opportunities for mental-health programs for youth (build database)

  • Research and identify fundraising opportunities for mentorship programs for youth (build a database)

  • Research and identify fundraising opportunities for after school programs for youth (build a database)

  • Identify and develop potential fundraising and advocacy activities

  • Apply for grants and online sponsorship applications

  • Create 4 blog posts + 10 instagram posts
