Rookie Of The Summer

Hello Everyone

This blog post is my greeting as I begin my summer job with Beat The Streets Toronto. I’m very excited to announce that I will be working with BTS as the Fundraising Officer. I can’t wait to learn and experience things about non-profit work from my co-worker, Arely Torales and my mentors Simi Jayeoba and Dejah Slater. With their experience I will be able to learn new things and gain new skills that will be useful for me in the future.

Thank You

I want to give a special thanks to Canada Summer Jobs for funding and giving me this amazing job opportunity. This job will help me expand on my work experience and introduce me to new skills. I am very thankful for this.

About Me

My name is Stone Lewis and I will be working this summer with Beat The Streets Toronto as a Fundraising Officer. I have been a part of BTS since it first opened in 2014 and it has always been a big part of my wrestling journey.  I was introduced to the sport of wrestling by my dad who competed at the national level. Initially, he wanted me to compete in other sports as wrestling was too close to him. I begged him to let me try and he did. I've been wrestling for 8 years now and have been blessed with a number of coaches along the way and BTS has been and continues to be a source of support to me in this journey.  As a 2x national cadet champion and a Pan Am silver medalist, my aspiration is to be an olympian. The opportunity with BTS through the Canada Summer Jobs Program gives me a chance to support other young wrestlers with access to programs and coaches which is an important part in building characters of future champions.
