Summer programs for low-income youth in the GTA

Summer camps are a great way to fill the summer vacations with fun, productive and educational activities. Summer camps can help your child develop valuable social, emotional, and physical skills. It is a great way to keep them busy and active throughout summer vacations. In this blog, you will find organizations that have arranged summer camps for children and youth this summer. We have developed a list of a few organizations hosting summer camps this season that are affordable and near you!  

Toronto Athletic Camps Sports 

Mission: There are many Camp locations around the GTA by TAC. You can check out their website to find more information on specific locations, prices, and program activities. The mission of TAC Sports is to provide children with the most personable, growth-oriented recreational and academic sport development. We strive to build the life skills, sports skills, self-confidence, and self-image of our wonderful students.

Prices start from $271 +tax per week for half day. There are also full-day slots available and you can qualify for discounts depending on the number of weeks you purchase. The next start date is July 4th. Check out their website for more details and to register.

Moorelands Kids 

Mission: Children and youth living with financial challenges face barriers that other kids don’t. Moorelands Kids’ mission is to bridge the opportunity gap through skill-building experiences, empowering kids to overcome the barriers to success. 

Prices start from $25 per week and it varies depending on the number of kids you register. The next start date is July 3rd, be sure to check out their website for more camp and registration details.

Jumpstart 

Mission: Giving kids the opportunity to access sport and play is essential for their growth and development, which is why Jumpstart funds a variety of different sports and activities all with the goal of giving all kids the chance to discover their passion. 

At Jumpstart you can apply for individual grants that can help you break the financial barriers of sending your child to camp this summer. You can apply online and be eligible for up to $600 dollars for your child. Their registration sheet is now open, be sure to check out their website for more details.

Pedalheads 

Mission: We built Pedalheads one neighborhood at a time, so giving back to the communities we serve is an important part of who we are. Through our various community initiatives, we strive to share the Pedalheads magic to as many families as possible.

The programs and cost varie from program to program but starting cost is $285 per week. There are lots of great opportunities and locations you can find at this organization. Check out their website for more information on start dates, prices, and locations.
