Tarleen Saroya Joining Beat the Streets as a Financial Officer! Workit 2023!

Hey there, I’m back!

I have had the honour of working with Beat the Streets for three years now. My past jobs within BTS included being a Social Media Manager, Summer Camp Counsellor and Wrestle 4 Fun Coach. I thoroughly enjoyed working in all these positions. I experienced great learning, growth and fun throughout my time here at BTS. I am beyond excited to further my work experience for another summer! The diversity within these jobs, their titles and descriptions, has allowed me to become more well-rounded in the work field and life as well! Here’s to a summer of experiencing more Jeopardy games, daily meetings, and blog writing! Not to mention broadening the depth of my resume during the process! BTS is keen on its youth development programs, specifically, employment readiness programs for youth!

My time as a wrestle4fun coach had to be my favourite thus far as I encouraged students in the Greater Toronto Area to become a part of the Active and healthy youth in Toronto. Our Wrestling programs for youth encouraged Resilient youth development. The Sports programs for low-income youth did benefit up to 1,456 kids as we did Social-emotional learning and Physical fitness with the students. Check out my day in life on Instagram to see it live in action. Programs for low-income schools do encourage Healthy minds and bodies. I’m glad I could make such an impact.

As a financial officer this summer, I get the privilege of doing what I love most! My tasks for this summer include writing blog posts, researching to create articles/reports and, what I’m looking forward to the most, helping to plan the Beat the Streets’ 10th anniversary Gala!! We hope to see you there!;)

Since the last time, I worked with Beat the Streets, my life has taken a 180. I am moving out west to Roseburg, Oregon for two years! Where I will begin my post-secondary studies at Umpqua Community College! I will be studying in the Computer Science program. At the same time, wrestling full-time with my future team! I am beyond thrilled and want to disgorge at the same time. Seven months is the most prolonged span that I have been away from home (Ontario, Canada). I know I will have more of a positive outlook in 8 weeks, as BTS promotes Building Confidence in youth and Resilience-building programs.

An enormous thank you, Canada summer jobs, for the opportunity this Summer! Expecting to make the most of it!

Stay posted for more blogs to come from me! Till the next time.
