Beat the Streets (BTS) is a charitable organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of youth in the Greater Toronto Area. Through diverse sports and learning programs, BTS encourages the resilience, confidence, and active lifestyle of the city's young populationIn addition, our organization aims to enhance the education of children and youth by offering engaging activities that nurture social-emotional skills, physical literacy, and employability skills. Since 2014, BTS has positively impacted over 28,000 students through four distinct programs: Level Up, You Grow Girl, Wrestle 4 Fun, and Work It.

As part of our commitment to empowering young individuals, Beat the Streets is thrilled to announce the expansion of our team this summer. Thanks to the generous support from Canada Summer Jobs, we are offering two exciting summer positions exclusively for youth applicants. These positions provide invaluable real-work experiences within a non-profit setting, offering opportunities to develop hard and soft skills. Executive Assistant
Job length: 10 weeks (May 22 to July 28, 2023)
Working hours: 30 hours/week
Pay: $15.50/hr
Location: hybrid (office-based minimum two days/week)
Office: 1301 Fewster Drive, Mississauga ON, L4W 1A2
Description:
Join BTS as an ambitious and organized Executive Assistant (EA)! You'll work closely with our Executive Director, managing their calendar and collaborating with other teams on campaigns and events. As an EA, you'll develop essential communication skills, conduct research and analysis, and gain experience in various digital tools. You'll also take on leadership responsibilities, managing the summer jobs application process and work plans for summer staff. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in executive support in the charity sector and develop valuable skills for your future career.
Responsibilities & tasks:
Manage the second round of the summer jobs application process (prepare job posts, manage applications and coordinate interviews and selection process)
Provide support services to the Executive Director (ED) (calendar, inquiries, administrative support)
Prepare and edit all ED communications (internal and external) as required
Work with other teams on campaigns, events, and activities
Coordinate weekly reports & timekeeping
Organize, schedule and manage meetings (including mentorship), minutes, calendars and internal communications.
Produce social media content
Develop and deliver a workshop on employment-related skills
Research and analysis as requested
Prepare and edit internal documents, including presentations and reports
General administrative tasks (writing, copy-editing, reports, timekeeping, data entry, desktop publishing)
Use of Toggl, Slack, Canva, Google Docs, Sheets, Forms and Slides, Squarespace, Buffer, Grammarly, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter & Mailchimp to complete activities
Program Coordinator - Education
Job length: 10 weeks (May 22 to July 28, 2023)

We're looking for two Program Coordinators to join our team for the summer. As a Program Coordinator, you'll coordinate our summer jobs program, including supervising summer staff and volunteers, planning program events, and working with senior staff on program activities. You'll also collaborate with other teams on campaigns, events, and activities and participate in the recruitment and interviewing process for new staff. In addition, you'll develop essential communication and digital skills, such as producing social media content and conducting research and analysis. You'll also lead and coordinate team members, set work plans and deadlines, and manage and deliver orientation week. This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program coordination, develop valuable skills for your future career, and positively impact the community.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage summer jobs program and staff
Schedule program activities and coordinate team members
Prepare and manage work plans for new staff
Manage and deliver orientation week (including healthy and human rights certification of new staff)
Support outreach activities of the ED
Attend weekly update meetings with supervisors
Work with other teams on campaigns, events, and activities
Develop and deliver group activities
Set up goal-setting plans with new staff and volunteers
Participate in recruitment and interviewing process for new staff
Develop and deliver workshops on management and coordination
Produce summer jobs evaluation reports and social media content on program activities and outcomes
Research for the Work it program
