Genevieve Morrison wins Gold at the 2023 Canadian Wrestling Championships

Genevieve Morrison, former Beat the Streets Program Coordinator, won an amazing victory at this year’s Canadian Wrestling Championships. After a 7-year hiatus, Genevieve surprised everyone with a win in the 50kg category. We are so proud of Gen and extend our sincerest congratulations!

What an amazing feat. I am not surprised by Genevieve Morrison, aka Coach Gen as we know her, winning the national trials on the weekend. We were surprised last week when we saw her name on the competition list. After seven years and three beautiful children, she decided to make a comeback. We knew from her time here at Beat The Streets that she was, and is, a very special person. We hope that she continues and goes on to compete at the Pan Am championships and the Olympic trials in December. How amazing would it be for her to return and get back that win, that opportunity she missed seven years ago (making the Olympic team). We wish her the best of luck and a great journey no matter what she chooses moving forward.
