The world is filled with inspirational women, and I believe growing up with an inspirational woman by your side is life-changing. When I think of inspirational women I think of my mother, a very powerful, self-driven, well-spoken woman. As I continue my life journey she continues to help, guide, and educate me to the best of her abilities.

Many of us undermine the role of parents in our lives, we take them for granted without even realizing how much effort they put into our well-being. It was no exception, but now that I am older, I look back at my youth and realize the enormous effort my mother put into me. She was the reason I started doing sports when I was young, she introduced me and my sister to gymnastics, setting me on the path to becoming a professional athlete. She encouraged me to better myself and set high goals, she never settled for average, she wanted me to be the best at whatever it is that I’m doing.

A very important lesson I’ve learned from my mother is whatever you put your mind to you can achieve. As some of you may know I have 6 other siblings. As you may imagine it’s not easy to keep up with your life while you have 7 kids to raise; however, my mother did just that. She never stopped working. Even while pregnant with twins she was teaching, driving us to school, and getting her real estate license. Nothing could stop her from achieving her goals, I try my best to emulate that for myself. Just like my mother, I stay focused on my task and don’t let anything get in my way. I don’t know what the future has in store for me, but I’m certain that when I have children of my own, I want them to look up to me as an inspirational woman the same way that I look up to my mother.
